About the project
The Cloud Italia website was redesigned to support Italian Public Administrations (PA) and their technology providers in planning, managing, and sustaining cloud migration. The platform provides the guidance, tools, and best practices to support organizations at every stage: from those just starting their journey to those consolidating and maintaining their infrastructures beyond the PNRR timeline.
The redesign addressed the need for a long-term vision post-2026, shifting the focus from migration as a one-off initiative to sustainable infrastructure governance.
To achieve these goals, the project focused on the following key areas:
UX design and information architecture
We redesigned the overall information architecture to help Public Administrations clearly frame their current situation and understand the steps required to start, continue, or optimize their cloud journey. The new structure supports progressive levels of depth, guiding users from high-level orientation to more detailed and operational content. Special attention was given to simplifying navigation and reducing cognitive load.
Content design and SEO
All content was fully reviewed, rewritten, and restructured to be clearer, more actionable, and aligned with users’ real decision-making needs.
A strong emphasis was placed on SEO and content findability, ensuring that key topics related to cloud governance, sustainability, and best practices are easily discoverable.
The content strategy also leverages lessons learned from previous migrations, through real case scenarios.
UI design and visual identity
The project involved defining a distinctive visual identity for Cloud Italia while ensuring seamless continuity with the broader Dipartimento per la trasformazione digitale ecosystem. The design was built upon the official Italian PA Design System, extending it through the creation of new molecules and interaction patterns developed with a focus on accessibility by design. These new components and patterns, specifically designed for Cloud Italia, are intended to be integrated back into the global library, making them available for reuse across other institutional sites within the ecosystem.
DatoCMS implementation and templates
Built on DatoCMS, the platform focuses on structured content modeling and long-term scalability. We developed reusable templates that allow editorial teams to efficiently manage and expand content while preserving UX, UI, and SEO standards. This ensures the platform can evolve and adapt to future needs without requiring a full system redesign or developers intervention to create new pages.
